Walmart: Pay workers $15 an hour and give them full-time hours

Raise the wage at Walmart. Fight for $15!

The Waltons have more wealth than the net worth of 4 out of 5 Black people combined. The contrast of the country's largest employer of Black workers being worth more than the bottom 79% of Black families is startling. Thankfully there is something Walmart can do to close this gap.

Tell Walmart to publicly commit to $15/hour and full-time hours for its employees.

Here's the letter we'll send to Walmart executives on your behalf. You can add a personal comment using the box provided.

Dear Walmart CEO Douglas Mcmillon and Chairman of the board Rob Walton,

I am writing to demand that you immediately raise the wage for Walmart associates to $15 an hour and offer full-time hours for your employees.

Walmart heirs holding more wealth than the bottom 79% of Black families is an example of the growing income disparities in our society that are so often denouncned by people across the political spectrum. The fact that Alice Walton can afford an expensive penthouse, but your employees can barely afford groceries indicates that there is room for improvement and more than enough resources to do so.

Higher wages for Walmart associates will allow them to take time off to attend to sick family members, purchase groceries, and cover increasingly skyrocketing housing and healthcare costs. By paying workers more, Walmart will reduce turnover, increase productivity, and put more money into their associates' hands — many of whom are also consumers.

It's time for Walmart to step up as an industry leader.

    Sincerely,

    [YOUR NAME]
