Since Trump’s FCC gutted all the Obama-era net neutrality protections, numerous activists, content creators, and small businesses have advocated for a full restoration of the open internet. The strength of California’s bill, coupled with the sheer size of our state, will make the impact of SB 822 and SB 460 reverberate across the nation. Major telecom companies know this, which is why they’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and have dozens of lobbyists camped out in Sacramento to defeat this bill. We’ve fought back against their money and lobbyist and got the bill this far, now we just need to get it over the finish line and onto Governor Jerry Brown’s desk.
