Victory! Cuomo appoints a special prosecutor for police killings
For 7 months, families of New Yorkers killed by police have urged Gov. Cuomo to enact an executive order appointing a special prosecutor for police killings. This week, these families won that battle!
It is hard to put into words the historical significance of this moment. For more than 60 years, New Yorkers have fought for independent oversight in order to protect their loved ones — in order to protect Black lives. We are deeply inspired by the leadership and hard work of the families, whose dedication and commitment is a true display of people power.
