Demand accountability for Wall Street

Several state attorneys general are standing up against a deal that would let five big banks get away with a slap on the wrist for widespread fraud against investors and homeowners.

We need as many attorneys general as possible to publicly resist this deal.

Please join us in asking California Attorney General Kamala Harris to stand strong against the big banks.

Here's the message we'll send to California Attorney General Kamala Harris on your behalf:

Dear California Attorney General Kamala Harris,

I'm writing to ask that you take a strong stance against the banks in the current investigation and negotiations surrounding fraudulent and improper mortgage lending practices. I'm concerned that under the settlement currently being negotiated, homeowners won't get significant relief and banks could avoid facing real accountability.

Any settlement with the banks should not release them from liability concerning a wide range of practices before those practices have been fully investigated. Any deal should force banks to pay an amount of money proportional to the damage they caused and should provide significant relief to homeowners.

I urge you to join your colleagues from New York, Delaware, Nevada, Kentucky, and Minnesota in fighting for homeowners and publicly opposing any deal that allows the banks to avoid full accountability.

Sincerely,

[your name here]
