North Carolina, Raise the Age!
Due to a regressive, century-old law, North Carolina prosecutes all 16- and 17-year-olds as adults — without exception. Within the next two days, a vote is expected on a bill to raise the age of juvenile jurisdiction to 18 and stop kids from being sent to adult prison for issues as minor as skipping school.
Please call your representative today and ask that they vote in favor of the Young Offenders Rehabilitation Act (HB 725) to ensure that our youth are given a second chance.
