Call BART Directors: Which side are you on?
On Black Friday, November 28, 2014, 14 members of the #BlackLivesMatter network joined hundreds of thousands of people across the country in using civil disobedience to protest a discriminatory pattern of police and vigilante violence that has taken too many Black lives. The protestors peacefully held the West Oakland Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station for an incredible two hours to send the message that #BlackLivesMatter and #NoBusinessAsUsual.
Now, BART is shamefully attempting to extort, intimidate, and demonize Black organizers fighting for their right to live by pushing for a $70,000 fine and misdemeanor charges. Tomorrow, is the BART Board of Directors meeting. If enough people call, we have a chance at moving BART to drop this outrageous fine and racist persecution at tomorrow's meeting. Will you call today?
**And if you haven't already, join the campaign to drop the $70,000 fine here.
