Tell the NC Senate Judiciary Committee II: All youth deserve a second chance

The North Carolina Senate Judiciary II Committee could vote any day now on HB 217, a bill that would make it easier to send 15-year-olds to adult prison. Youth in adult prisons face greater rates of sexual violence, suicide and post incarceration re-offense, than those processed through the juvenile system. The bill would increase the number of youth sent to adult prisons by unnecessarily eliminating judicial discretion and giving prosecutors unchecked power to decide whether or not kids get a second chance.

Please make a call today to key Senators on the Judiciary II Committee and let them know that sending more of North Carolina's youth to adult prisons is never the answer.
