Tell the Red Cross to feed Baton Rouge flood survivors!

The Red Cross is collecting millions from taxpayers to satisfy basic needs of survivors of the Baton Rouge floods--but is starving hundreds of people stuck in the River Center Shelter.

The meals that the Red Cross provides are scarce and they’re totally unsuited for the hundreds of elders and children in the shelter. The food is virtually inedible for seniors with diabetes and dialysis restrictions--hunks of mystery meat, stale frozen foods, and chemically sweetened snacks that cause survivors with diabetes to go into shock. Flood survivors have seen children carried out of the shelter on gurneys because of depleted sugar levels and watched elders cry because they can’t chew the stale food with their dentures.

Flood victims have asked time and time again for the Red Cross to provide nutritious meals for Baton Rouge flood survivors, but they refuse.

Tell the Red Cross to feed Baton Rouge flood survivors nutritious meals now!

Below is the letter we'll send to the Red Cross on your behalf:

    Dear Red Cross,

I am writing to ask you to properly feed the victims of the Baton Rouge floods. Hundreds of residents have lost everything in the historic floods and are forced to rely on humanitarian agencies like the Red Cross for their basic needs.

The food that you are currently serving is totally unacceptable for the inhabitants of the River Center Shelter. Small portions of fried, frozen, and artificially sweetened foods are virtually inedible for young children and elders with chronic illnesses. The meals served should be fresh, balanced, and nutritional. Customized diet plans should be provided to those individuals who have diet specifications that prohibit the intake of the standard meal selection.

It's time for the Red Cross to use the millions they're collecting from taxpayers to take care of the basic needs of flood survivors.

    Thank You,
