Prisoners deserve dignity, show your support today.

We are witnessing a historic moment where people behind bars are rising up and fighting back. Seven incarcerated people died at the Lee Correctional Prison in South Carolina in April. Prison staff had provoked fights between inmates and then turned their backs when the fights became increasingly violent, ultimately resulting in the unnecessary deaths of seven people . Since August 21st, in response to prison staff essentially allowing and promoting the death of inmates on their watch, prisoners across America have been on strike.

Strikers are rightfully demanding humane living conditions, access to rehabilitation, sentencing reform, and the end of modern day slavery.

The strike will come to an end on September 9th in remembrance of the day that incarcerated people began the now famous Attica Prison Uprising in 1971. Progress has already been made with the strike, most recently with the cost to make a phone call from Texas prison decreasing from 26 cents to 6 cents per minute. This is a direct response of the sustained strike. While the strike is coming to an end the fight is not over and now more than ever we must show our people in prison that we are there for them--sign a card showing your support for prison strikers.

In response to organizing one of the largest prison strikes in U.S history organizers have been retaliated against and  many placed in solitary confinement. They’ve been locked in cells for 24 hours a day and are only allowed to leave twice a week to shower. Organizers are receiving no outside time, not fresh air, and no sunlight. This cruel repression will likely continue and only increase once the strike is over and media coverage has died down.

This is why we must show prisoners who are on strike that we stand with them during this strike and beyond.
