    Demand Justice For Ricky Cobb II. Tell Governor Walz: Let County Attorney Moriarty Do Her Job!

    In January 2024, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced charges against Minnesota State Trooper Ryan Londregan for the killing of a Black man, Ricky Cobb II, during a routine traffic stop. The decision to pursue charges in this case was an important step towards bringing justice to Cobb’s friends and family, who are grappling with the tragic murder of their loved one.

    Now, the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) has asked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to reassign the case to the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office. This request comes after calls from Minnesota House Republicans for County Attorney Moriarty to drop the charges against Londregan and resign. It’s clear that the political establishment of Minnesota is trying to stand in the way of police accountability.

    In the coming days, Governor Walz will be reviewing the request from the MPPOA to reassign the case. That’s why we need to ensure that Governor Walz hears from you. 

    Tell Governor Walz to reject efforts by the police and Minnesota House Republicans to undermine police accountability, and let County Attorney Moriarty do her job.

    Dear Governor Walz,

    Ricky Cobb II should be alive right now. We cannot allow police violence to continue killing our loved ones and destroying our families and communities.

    That’s why I demand that you stand with County Attorney Moriarty in her decision to pursue charges against State Trooper Londregan. #JusticeforRickyCobbII means rejecting calls from the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association to reassign the case to the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office.     Let County Attorney Moriarty do her job.
