Below is the letter we will send on your behalf to the Chancellor's Office, Department of Public Safety, and the Trustees of Syracuse University.

I am writing to express my full support of the students of activist group #NotAgainSU, who are protesting hate crimes on our campus and working to make changes to make campus safer for Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color.

The students of #NotAgainSU have written out a clear, reasonable list of changes that need to happen to make campus a safe, comfortable environment for Black students, students of colors, Jewish students, and all students. These demands have been created to ensure campus is a safe, hate-free environment. Because of our urgent need for safety, it is imperative that you implement #NotAgainSU's demands.

Your hesitance to implement student demands is troubling and unacceptable. Students are fighting to ensure SU is a safe place to live and learn. By hesitating to implement #NotAgainSU's demands, you irreparable harm along with lifelong pain and trauma. With the oppression that Students of Color already experience just by existing, Students of Color should not have to deal with this additional pain and trauma.

In support of the students of #NotAgainSU, and all students on campus impacted by the recent string of hate crimes, I demand that you institute all demands being requested by #NotAgainSU.

Stand with students protesting injustices on campus

Instead of punishing the students on campus who are committing racist, homophobic, and anti-Semitic hate crimes, Chancellor Kent and the administration has been punishing the students protesting against them. This is a gross mistreatment of our fellow students, who are simply fighting for their right to be safe on campus.

Campus activist group #NotAgainSU has created a list of clear, reasonable demands that will make campus safe and comfortable for Black students, Indigenous students, and Students of Color. These demands are long overdue. Write to Chancellor Kent and the administration and them to implement #NotAgainSU's demands with compromise or conditions.
