ADD YOUR NAME: No budget increase for MPD!

After tens of thousands of Minneapolis residents voted for a new approach to safety, Mayor Frey promised police accountability and reform. Yet his proposed 2022 budget INCREASES MPD's budget by almost 20 percent — and doesn’t fully fund the Office of Violence Prevention.

Jacob Frey’s proposed budget hands more money to the police while cutting essential services — like family and early childhood programs, school clinics, and environmental services.

More money to a violent, overfunded police force does not keep our communities safe. Minneapolis has tried this before by increasing the police budget every single year. And year after year, our communities feel less safe.

ADD YOUR NAME: Demand Minneapolis' mayor and city council reject a $27 MILLION funding increase for MPD and fully-fund programs that actually keep our families and communities safe.

Here is the petition we are sending to Minneapolis City Council:

    Here is the Petition:
More money to a violent, overfunded police force does not keep our communities safe. Minneapolis has tried this before — increasing the police budget every year. And year after year, our communities feel less safe.

I'm standing with Reclaim The Block, the Yes 4 Minneapolis Coalition, and Color Of Change to uplift the following demands:
    1. No $27 million increase for MPD!
    2. Fund care, not cops — Fully fund the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP)
    3. Fund essential services like school-based clinics, family and early childhood programs, and youth programs!

Throwing more money at MPD is NOT the answer — and more money to fund violent policing does NOT keep us safe.

Budgets are moral documents. They tell us what our city prioritizes and who we value. And it's time for Minneapolis to fund violence prevention and prioritize care over cops.
