Tell Tech Companies: No more hate, Change the Terms

The ongoing white nationalist terrorism and voter suppression enabled by tech companies shows that the industry needs to do more to protect Black people, people of color, women, LGBTQ+ people, Muslims and other marginalized communities.

For the few past few years, Change the Terms — a coalition of civil rights, anti-hate and open-internet organizations, including Color Of Change — has been working on a set of corporate policies and practices to help tech companies stop white nationalist hate and voter suppression online. We have shared these policies with tech corporations like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Twitter, Pinterest, and Reddit giving them a road map to a less hateful internet.

Now is the time for all tech companies to take a stand against hate on their platforms by adopting the policies from Change the Terms.

The corporate policies that Change the Terms created are designed to help internet companies reduce the hate and voter suppression occurring on their platforms everyday. By implementing and enforcing these policies, tech companies can help make our communities safer online, and in the real world.

Join us: Call on tech companies like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Twitter, and Pinterest to lead the industry in stopping online hate. Sign the petition urging tech companies to adopt and implement the comprehensive corporate policies put forward by Change the Terms.

To Facebook, Google, Amazon, Twitter, Pinterest and other tech companies:

    Here is the Petition:
Tech companies must adopt more comprehensive corporate policies to combat online extremism and hate. These policies should have clear and transparent terms of service.

I urge your company to adopt and implement the set of corporate policies outlined by Change the Terms.
