Who's Taking Blood Money from Hate Groups?

Big payment processing and tech companies - Amazon, Discover, American Express and Visa - are processing donations for and selling merchandise for some of the vilest white supremacist groups. Including the groups behind the racial terrorism that happened in Charlottesville last year.

Their services provide the financial support white supremacist groups need to fund and organize hatred and violence against Black people and other marginalized communities. Let's be clear; every dollar companies like Amazon and Discover make from white supremacists is Blood Money. Their inaction begs the question: whose side are they on?

Over the past year, our pressure has helped push PayPal, MasterCard and other online platforms to remove nearly 200 funding sources from white supremacist sites. But dozens of these hate groups have found their way onto other platforms because companies like Amazon and Discover have refused to take this threat seriously. They need to follow the lead of other companies that are removing hate groups from their platforms and creating internal policies and processes to stop profiting from bigotry.

To Amazon, Discover, Visa, American Express, and other tech and financial service companies:

    Here is the Petition:

Immediately cut off hate groups from your payment processing services.

White supremacist groups like those behind last year's deadly "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville have played a major role in the rapid rise in anti-Black, anti-Jewish and anti-LGBTQ hate crimes over the last two years. Through these groups, they plot to turn their hatred into violence. Last year's murder of anti-racist activist at the hands of an Identity Evropa member and leaked messages showing plans for violence at this year's anniversary celebration of the murder and violence they caused last year demonstrates the real world consequences of allowing these groups to use mainstream platforms.

From selling racist merchandise and neo-nazi propaganda on Amazon to being able to receive online donations via Discover, American Express and Visa these hate groups are able to easily access funds to support their hateful organizing. By profiting from donations to hate groups you are directly enabling the rising violence and vitriol directed at marginalized communities. Our communities will not stand for any corporations that aim to make a buck off white supremacy. Take immediate action and cut hate groups off from your platforms and implement robust and enforceable anti-hate policies to keep hate groups and leaders off your platforms.
