Ford should replace Detroit Public School’s pipes and plumbing to make water safe for Detroit children.

Recent water contamination checks completed last month showed unsafe, elevated lead or copper levels in every two out of three Detroit public schools that could be fixed with $30M used to replace aging water infrastructure. Yet, Detroit City Council just voted to give up $238 million in cushy tax handouts in a “community benefits agreement” with Ford Motor Co. for a local neighborhood project.

Taxpayer money should go to children safety and education, not big corporations.

    Here is the Petition:
Dear City of Detroit and Ford Motor Co.,

As part of Ford's community benefits agreement with Detroit, we the people demand that Ford should replace Detroit Public School’s pipes and plumbing to make water safe for Detroit children. Ford’s investment in Detroit Public Schools demonstrate responsible corporate leadership as a good community actor -- it is a direct investment in its own interest by improving and providing safe water for Ford employees' own children attending Detroit Public Schools.

    Thank you,
