Tell Wisconsin Political Leaders: Protect Racial Justice Protestors
Last week, the state of Wisconsin decided to protect a violent white supremacist over the rights and safety of racial justice protestors.
After facing a trial for the murders of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, and the injury of Gaige Grosskreutz, Kyle Rittenhouse was declared not guilty and will never face the consequences of his hate-filled actions.
This acquittal follows a dangerous trend. In the year since Kyle Rittenhouse murdered Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, more than 100 anti-protest bills have been introduced across the county, INCLUDING IN WISCONSIN.
These bills not only create harsher punishment for protesters but also make it easier for people like Kyle Rittenhouse to commit violence against racial justice protesters and avoid accountability.
With support from Color Of Change members like you, organizers on the ground were able to block a bill that would have put racial justice protesters in Wisconsin at further risk.
But the bill may be re-introduced this year.
Now the message to racial justice protesters in Wisconsin and across the country is even more clear: Black lives, and those who stand in solidarity with Black lives, will not be protected.
But our people power is strong both in the streets and across the digital sphere.
Join Color Of Change to demand Wisconsin political leaders make a public commitment to protect racial justice protesters, and commit to killing any current or future anti-protest bills that further put racial justice protesters in danger.

Here is the Petition:
Dear Tony Evers, Mandela Barnes, Devin LeMahieu, Janet Bewley, Robin Vos, Jim Steineke, Gordon Hintz, and Josh Kaul.
We are writing to you as citizens across the country concerned with the deep racial justice and anti-protest implications of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict in Wisconsin.
After facing a trial for the murders of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, and the injury of Gaige Grosskreutz, Kyle Rittenhouse was declared not guilty and will never face the consequences of his hate-filled actions.

Thanks to organizers on the ground and advocacy from Color Of Change members like myself, the bill was not scheduled for a vote and signed into law.
But the bill may be re-introduced this year.
These bills not only create harsher punishment for protesters but also make it easier for people like Kyle Rittenhouse to commit violence against racial justice protesters and avoid accountability.
Kyle Rittenhouse will face no repercussions and zero accountability for taking the lives of people protesting in the wake of yet another police shooting of yet another Black man - this time in front of his own child.
Now the message to racial justice protesters in Wisconsin and across the country is even more clear: Black lives, and those who stand in solidarity with Black lives, will not be protected.
Last summer, people across the country were still reeling from the video of police officers killing George Floyd when another police officer caught on camera firing seven shots into Mr. Blake’s car that left him paralyed from the waist down - all while three small children sat in the backseat.
And while thousands took to the streets to protest this epidemic of police violence and stand up for racial justice in the wake of the shooting, Kyle Rittenhouse responded by traveling across state lines, arming himself with a rifle, and killing two people at the protest.
Kyle Rittenhouse chose protecting businesses and property over our right to protest racial injustice and the sanctity of Black lives. And the judge and jury who exonerated him, reaffirmed this choice.
This is why we need you to make a public commitment to protect racial justice protesters, and commit to killing any current or future anti-protest bills that further put racial justice protesters in danger.
Our people power will not be silenced. Civil unrest and protest are essential tools for our freedom and we will fight to protect them.
Sincerely,
