To Discover, and other financial service companies:
Discover is processing donations and payments to at least 85 hate groups.
These hate groups cannot be allowed to continue to grow and wreak terror over our communities. White supremacist are able to easily receive funding from their members because companies like Discover are allowing them too. And thanks to transaction fees, Discover is making money every time someone donates to one of the hate groups connected to them.
Discover should not be profiting from and enabling hate groups.
Some of the groups receiving money from Discover are responsible for numerous hate crimes, murders, and the radicalization of terrorists like Dylann Roof, Timothy McVeigh, and Wade Michael Page. Companies like Discover have a responsibility to ensure that their platforms are not used to elevate, normalize, or fund voices that enable or encourage this kind of violence and discrimination.
To Discover, and other financial service companies:
Dear Discover,
Immediately cut off hate groups from your payment processing services.
White supremacist groups have played a major role in the recent and rapid rise in anti-Black, anti-Jewish and anti-LGBTQ hate crimes in the last year and a half. Through these groups, they plot to turn their hatred into violence. Last year alone saw a doubling of the number of murders carried out by white supremacists. And since 2014, members of the alt-right have murdered or injured 110 people. Other hate groups, like Label 56, Crew 38, National Alliance and Northwest Front have been responsible for the radicalization of terrorists like Dylann Roof, Timothy McVeigh, and Wade Michael Page.
By profiting from donations to hate groups you are directly enabling the rising violence and vitriol directed at marginalized communities. Our communities will not stand for any corporation that aim to make a buck off white supremacy. Take immediate action and cut hate groups from your financial service platforms.
