Finally, Jacqueline Dixon is free. The murder charge against Jacqueline has been dismissed after a grand jury chose not to indict her. This is a big win for Jacqueline, her family, and for survivors of domestic violence.

In July, a young 38-year old Black woman Jacqueline Dixon was arrested and charged with murder for killing her husband Carl Omar Dixon after an argument in which her husband attempted to attack her. And District Attorney Michael Jackson remained steadfast in charging Jacqueline despite knowing about her painful experience with abuse. Elected prosecutors have full discretion to decide when, how and if to charge someone with a crime as well as use other alternatives to help survivors of domestic violence.

As a Color of Change member, you were there all the way. You signed the petition, called the DA and sent a letter to his office demanding he drop the charges against Jacqueline Dixon. Together we showed that survivors matter and deserve support and a community to fight for them.
