Send a letter to DA Michael Jackson: Drop the charges against Jacqueline Dixon Now

Alabama District Attorney Michael Jackson is refusing to drop the charges against Jacqueline Dixon. He's even gone as far to ignore calls and a direct letter from Color of Change. But now Color of Change members have a chance to send a letter to District Attorney Michael Jackson to fight for Jacqueline Dixon.

In July, a young 38-year old Black woman Jacqueline Dixon was arrested and charged with murder for killing her husband Carl Omar Dixon after an argument in which her husband attempted to attack her.

Jacqueline is currently out of jail, but the charges still remain and District Attorney Michael Jackson will likely send it to a grand jury. Survivors of domestic abuse should not be punished for defending themselves. Right this moment DA Jackson is focused on criminalizing Jacqueline rather than showing compassion.

Elected prosecutors have full discretion to decide when, how and if to charge someone with a crime as well as use other alternatives to help survivors of domestic violence.
