It's the 5 year anniversary of the Ferguson Uprising! Continue the fight with Color Of Change!
It was 5 years ago that millions of Black people across the nation and the world joined a powerful movement to stand up against police brutality, systemic oppression, political corruption, and white supremacy in Ferguson, MO and beyond.
The weeks-long Ferguson Protests inspired an entire generation of people and put on display Black peoples’ resiliency and willingness to put our bodies on the line for justice. Regular folks became freedom fighters that day. Even for children who didn’t have the language to put words to the Black struggle, but knew what injustice looked like when they were faced with it. “Hands up, don’t shoot” became a rallying cry not just against police brutality but against societal oppression that Black people are faced with daily.
The fire that the nation felt from Black people during the Ferguson Protests is still burning and the movement continues.
