In June, New Yorkers have an opportunity to create a new vision for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. We demand a reform Prosecutor who embraces fairer, safer, more effective approaches to criminal justice.
In preparation, please join The Manhattan DA Candidate Forum via COC Facebook on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 7 PM EST for a lively discussion on criminal justice with Manhattan's DA candidates: Tahanie Aboushi, Alvin Bragg, Liz Crotty, Tali Farhadian Weinstein, Diana Florence, Lucy Lang, Eliza Orlins, and Dan Quart. Prosecutors are powerful actors within the criminal justice system and have incredible discretion over which cases to prosecute. We have the power to elect them and demand accountability from prosecutors and district attorneys.

Candidates will be questioned on the most pressing criminal justice issues facing New Yorkers. We will also discuss our platform for Manhattan DA candidates, which asks the next DA to cut the office’s $169 million budget, enact robust decline-to-prosecute policies on a range of cases, and seek shorter prison sentences. The event will include a candidate Q&A.
The platform is backed by Color of Change, Vocal-NY, New York Communities for Change, the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, the Working Families Party, Sunrise Movement NYC, and more.
Prosecutors wield more power than almost every other actor in the criminal justice system — and we have the power to elect them. We need prosecutors who will respond fairly to our community’s calls for justice.
By demanding accountability from the next Manhattan DA, we can continue the fight to end the prosecutorial practices that harm Black people. REGISTER NOW for this virtual event.
