We still fight for Trayvon Martin

Today, admitted killer George Zimmerman is a free man. Let's turn our pain and rightful frustration into action, and grow a movement to hold accountable a criminal justice system that fails Black Americans every day.

Demand that the US Department of Justice bring federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman, and end the senseless violence perpetrated by unaccountable vigilantes and police due to racial profiling.

Here's the letter we'll send to Attorney General Eric Holder and the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division on your behalf. You can add a personal comment using the box in the form.

Dear Attorney General Holder,

Last year your office began an investigation into the deeply troubling killing of Trayvon Martin at the hands of George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida. George Zimmerman stalked and fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon, and today he's a free man after being acquitted on charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

The verdict in this trial has left millions of people angry, heartbroken and seeking answers. It has laid bare our core frustrations with the criminal justice system in America. But amidst this tragedy, there is still an opportunity for your office to restore justice by demonstrating a commitment to protecting civil rights and ending racial profiling and the violence it causes.

By quickly bringing civil rights charges against George Zimmerman, you can help reaffirm the value of Black life and send a strong message that the lives of Black youth are precious. I urge you to immediately charge George Zimmerman so that we can move forward from this ugly chapter in our nation's history.

Sincerely,

[Your name]
