[UPDATE 10-11-2016 4:30 PM EST:] A federal court ruling has extended the deadline for Floridians to register to vote until tomorrow at 5pm EST. As of yesterday, over 1 million Floridians had their power restored with 200,000 people still without power in the state. Floridians shouldn't have to chose between their safety and exercising their right to vote. As they work to return to their normal lives, we will continue to press forward for the deadline to be extended to the 18th, giving voters a week to register. 

President Obama declared a state of emergency because of Hurricane Matthew. Despite this, Governor Rick Scott has refused to extend the voter registration deadline, a ploy to ensure that many Black and Progressive voters never make it to the polls. 

Rick Scott is the chairman of Donald Trump's Super PAC and in a powerful position as Governor of Florida to influence the election. We are working fast to make sure that Rick Scott extends the voter registration deadline to October 18, giving Floridians who are currently dealing with the natural disaster a fair chance to register before it closes.

Reports show that the percentage of registered Black voters in Florida was down a recently as this summer. Many Black voters could still be waiting to register to vote until recently. Add your name to make sure that Rick Scott does not use this election to manipulate the election in Trump's favor.
