    DA Mathis: Prosecute Officer Brian Encinia! #JusticeForSandy

    Over the last 3 weeks, it seems that Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis has done everything in his power to cover up what happened to Sandra. Instead of looking at the illegal stop and violent arrest that unjustly put her in jail in the first place, local officials are trying to blame Sandra for her own death.

    We've waited long enough for Officer Encinia to be held accountable for his abusive misconduct. Now, we need a groundswell of public pressure to ensure DA Mathis does his job and brings Officer Encinia to justice.

    Will you help us ensure #JusticeForSandy and demand DA Elton Mathis charge Officer Encinia for the illegal arrest and assault and battery of Sandra Bland?

    Dear District Attorney Elton Mathis,

    I urge you to prosecute Texas State Trooper Brian Encinia for illegally and violently arresting Sandra Bland. As Waller County District Attorney you have the power and responsibility to ensure justice for Sandra by holding Officer Encinia accountable. If it were not for Officer Encinia's criminal misconduct, Sandra would likely still be alive today.

    No police officer who racially profiles and unjustly arrests those they are meant to serve and protect should be allowed to stay on the force. Officer Encinia's behavior was unacceptable and in violation of Texas State Trooper policy.


    The list of his errors is almost too long to count. As shown in the dash cam video, Officer Encinia threatened to "light Sandra up" with his taser, violently arrested her and then lied to his fellow officers to cover up his tracks. I demand you do everything in your power to charge him for the illegal arrest and assault and battery of Sandra Bland.
