This Wednesday July 18th there will be a full City Council meeting where Intro 0741 will be voted on and we need to make it clear that New Yorkers support this bill and need it to pass.

Press Conference Information

What: Press Conference and petition delivery in support of Intro 0741--ending phone call fees from city jails

When: Wednesday, July 18th at 12:15 pm

Where: NYC City Council, on the Broadway side of the gate (between Park Place & Murray Street)

Immediately following the press conference we will attend the City Council meeting-- and would love to have you join.

New York City may become the first jurisdiction to make all calls free in its jails since correctional systems started charging for them. Ending jail phone call fees would save communities over $8M a year.

This would be a HUGE WIN not only for New York City but for the country--with New York serving as the vanguard we can expect to see similar legislation passing throughout the country.
