During a recent segment of FOX News’ The O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly alleged that “in certain ghetto neighborhoods it’s part of the culture” for 9-year old Black children to smoke marijuana.

These statements are not just inaccurate, they're also highly offensive. And such dehumanizing representations of Black people on the news can have dire consequences; abusive treatment by police, less attention from doctors, and harsher sentences from judges, just to name a few.

Bill O'Reilly is at it again. On the August 18th episode of The O’Reilly Factor, Bill dismissed the idea that the persistent killings of Black folks by police is a crisis, calling it “an infinitesimal situation,” something that “doesn’t happen that much.”

In the wake of Michael Brown’s tragic death, at this critical juncture for our nation — with Black folks and their allies fighting for the recognition of our very humanity — O’Reilly’s remarks are unacceptable and dangerous. He must be held accountable.
