We Will Continue: ColorofChange 10 Years After Katrina
From the first email that we sent to 1,000 people a decade ago, we have now grown to a membership of more than 1 million. As ColorofChange reflects on the time that has passed since Hurricane Katrina, which prompted the founding of the organization, we are reminded that Katrina was not an anomaly. Since the storm, we have worked to amplify Black voices. Since September 2005, our members have joined us in:
- organizing in support of the Jena 6
- partially de-funding the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)
- targeting media giants like Fox News, known for spewing toxic language that fuels hate
- donating to the Organization for Black Struggle to help build an organizing infrastructure on the ground in Ferguson
- and launching many more successful campaigns
And we will continue.
None of these efforts would have been possible without support from our members. Please give what you can to help us push forward an agenda for improving Black lives everywhere.
