    Was Alfred Wright murdered?

And did the police cover it up?

Violent and unsolved murders when the victim is Black is an old story in this part of Texas and the Wright family has good reason to suspect racially-motivated foul play. Help Alfred's family learn the truth.

Call on the Department of Justice, Governor Rick Perry and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott to conduct a thorough investigation into both Alfred’s death and the Sabine County Sheriff’s Department’s mishandling of the case.

Here's the letter we'll send to US Attorney General Eric Holder, Governor Rick Perry and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott on your behalf. You can add a personal comment using the box to the right.

    Here is the Petition:

Dear US Attorney Eric Holder, Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott,

I am deeply troubled by the Sabine County Sheriff's Department's botched investigation following the mysterious disappearance and death of Alfred Wright.

It took only four days for the Sheriff's Department to give up searching for Alfred's body. The Sheriff's Department never gave Alfred the benefit of a thorough investigation, which is particularly jarring considering Sabine County's notorious history of racial violence directed at Black residents.

It's up to you to give Alfred's grieving children and wife closure and the answers they deserve. State officials have a responsibility to hold law enforcement accountable and ensure that the criminal justice system equally protects Black life. I urge you to conduct a thorough investigation into Alfred’s death and the Sabine County Sheriff’s Department’s mishandling of the initial investigation.

    Sincerely,

    [Your Name]
