Stephon Clark should be alive. Plain and simple. The cries for justice are growing louder and stronger. District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert has not taken adequate action to address the systemic issues that led to Stephon Clark’s murder. Only she has the power to indict Officers Mercadal and Robinet. Schubert decides.

Last week, Stephon “Zoe” Clark was only standing in his grandmother’s yard, holding a cell phone when Sacramento police shot him 20 times while his family was inside the home. Immediately, the officers involved began covering up their crimes. Why else would they all conspire to turn off their microphones? The officers arrived to the residential area responding to a call for a possible vandalism. They had the lousy excuse of mistaking a cell phone for a gun. The only description officers had was someone wearing a hoodie. Clark, a young, loving father of two children is dead because the police abused their power and were trigger happy.

District Attorney Schubert must do her job. The Clark family deserves justice.
